Monday August 27th turned out to be a fantastic day for the NTHBA to host the 9th Annual 4 Person Scramble Golf Tournament and 1st Ever Bunco Tournament with a side of Karaoke. If you weren’t able to participate, you missed out on a lot of fun and camaraderie! 30 teams were in involved in this year’s golf scramble which included our special guest team from the 363rd TRS , Lt. Col. James Olson, Don Watson, Mike Houck and Mickey Bonham. We were especially happy they were able to participate.
Participants started by signing in and receiving door prize and drink tickets with a 12 can goody bag drink cooler donated by Guarantee Title & OK Concrete filled with various items ranging from snacks, golf tees, key chains, pens and other useful items. Next they were served lunch sponsored by: Absolute Insulation, American National Bank, Biggs & Matthews Inc. Consulting, Corlett Probst & Boyd PLLC, Kelly Moore Paints and Morrison Supply, that consisted of a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, baked beans and Cole slaw and followed by an opportunity to hit a few range balls that were sponsored by Lonestar Wastewater.
At 1:00 PM they were off with a shotgun start to begin hitting the greens. At the end of the tournament, teams were awarded cash prizes donated by John Lee Stoiloff Insurance Agency and United Country Heart of Texoma, Realtors.The team of Jason Curtis, Bryce Berryman, Blake Thomason and Ross Tucker came in 1st ,
Union Square Credit Union Team of Matt Owen, Josh Nichols, Clayton Hanson and Meguel Compean came in 2nd, Lonestar Wastewater team of Jeff Boyd, Tony Twillingear, Curry Kunkel and Tanner Gordy came in 3rd and Morrison Supply team of Cody Moore, Kip Hughes, Rod Perez and B.J. received the Honest Abe award for coming in last. Several players were awarded $25.00 gift cards on various holes while Justin Holcomb was the winner of a Char Broil 3 Burner Gas grill donated by Lowe’s on the prize hole. Justin generously donated the grill back to the Young Professionals to sale squares on and give away at their upcoming Sporting Clay Shoot on October 26th. Thank you Justin. The holes were decorated with hole sponsor signs and Kelly Moore Paint set up a tent and served refreshments throughout the tournament.

While golfers were out making their rounds, 16 people tried their hand at rolling dice to come in 1st with the most wins at the Bunco table. Linda Miller with Miller Realtor Group, Peggy Baggett with RE/MAX Elite Group, Judy Stutts with Nortex Realtors, Linda Trotter with Paramount Realtors, Delinda Dodd & Jessica Lyons with Union Square Credit Union Barney & Dianne Brock with Lance Friday Homes, Kathy Roberts with American National Bank, Lindsey Sheppard & Allene Brown with First National Bank, Jana Henderson with Henderson Appraisal, Judy & Kara Wachsman with R.J. Wachsman Homes, Cheyenne Key with United Country Heart of Texas Realtors and Teri Gibson with the NTHBA. After several hours of rolling dice and ringing the bell to end each round of Bunco, score cards were tallied and prizes consisting of gift baskets sponsored by Lindsey Sheppard & First National Bank, were awarded.
Linda Trotter with Paramount Realtors won the top prize basket with the most wins, Linda Miller with Miller Realtor Group won the second prize basket with for the most Bunco’s and the third prize basket for the lowest score was won by Judy Wachsman!
When the Bunco tournament was finished and all awards handed out, several people entertained the group singing karaoke. The room was completely filled with amazement and laughter. Everyone had a great time and look forward to doing the same in 2019.
